  • What motivated you to be a Pilates and yoga instructor?

Pilates was an alluring transition for me after I stopped dancing in high school, and I thought being a certified instructor would be a cool tool to have in my belt (eventually coupling it with yoga.) I studied performing arts and writing in college, but life has a funny way of pushing us in the direction we’re meant to. As they say, do what you love and it’ll never feel like work. I’ve always found a sense of bliss in physical activity, and I love helping people feel their best.

  • How would you describe your training personality?
Encouraging and open-minded. I never want my students to feel “stuck,” like they can only do something one way. Every body moves differently, and as long as they’re moving safely, I want people to tune inside and honor their needs. Plus, I find people are a lot more motivated to accept a challenge if they already feel at ease and in control.

  • What advice do you have for people that are just getting into fitness?
I have two tips for success:  1) Find an activity you love, you’ll be much more likely to stick with it. 2) I learned this one the hard way. Don’t underestimate the power of a good stretch and rest- your body will thank you!

  • What’s your favorite workout and why?
Oh gosh, I don’t think I can choose just one. Mixing it up is a fun way to keep exercise fresh and helps me beat boredom. My top 3 favorite are probably an intense HIIT session, upbeat dance class, or long run to clear my head.

  • What’s your favorite holiday dish?
I’ve never met a vegetable I didn’t like roasted: squash, brussel sprouts, beets, green beans- you name it, I’ll heap my plate…also, dessert always!
